  | 2009 Sosta Cup | 10.06.09

2009 Sosta Cup

The second annual Sosta Cup was held on Friday 5th June at Kart Mania Gepps Cross with after race presentations held at the Fulham United Clubrooms.

11 teams competed for the glorious title of "Sosta Cup" winners in a Bathurst style race. Due to the wet weather the outdoor section of the track was closed and the race increased to become a 140 lap race on the tight indoor circuit.

The racing was intense with Paul Palcini and Lino Morabito leading for the majority of the race before they relinquished their lead in the latter stages when Morabito was hit with a stop-go penalty for "agressive driving". From there it was a battle in the final laps as Danny Gariboli tried to hold off a fast finishing Bubba. On the last lap of the race Bubba managed to find a way through on the second last corner to snatch victory with co-driver Johnny Lipari.

The fastest lap of the night was set by Paul Palcini and special mention must be made of Bubba who made it back to back victories after being part of the winning team in 2008.

For all who attended it was a fun night and thanks again to Sosta Restaurant for donating the prizes.

Fulham men secure promotion to Division 1

In the final game of the season, the Fulham men have secured promotion straight back into Division 1 with a 3-1 victory away to third placed ISC Raptors.

It was a game where both teams had everything to play for; Raptors had to win to leapfrog Fulham into second place.

After a goaless first half in which Fulham could have had 2 goals if not for the Raptors keeper, Michael Sancilio gave Fulham the lead before 2 goals from Paul Matteo put the result beyond doubt. Raptors grabbed a late goal but never looked like over-running Fulham.

Full match report to come....

  | 2008 Jersey Raffle Winners | 06.09.08

2008 Jersey Raffle Winners

The Fulham United Jersey Raffle was drawn on Friday night (6th September 2008).

Rob Priarollo was the lucky winner and being a die hard Liverpool fan he very quickly chose the Steven Gerrard signed jersey as his prize.

A second winner was drawn and the lucky ticket belonged to Johnny Lipari. He made it a Liverpool double by choosing the Fernando Torres signed jersey.

Despite the urges of the crowd, a third winner was not drawn. The final jersey, signed by Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo, will be auctioned off with details to be announced once they become available.

Congratulations to Rob and Johnny and thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket.

  | Sponsor Profile - Adelaide Indoor Soccer Centre | 20.08.08

Sponsor Profile - Adelaide Indoor Soccer Centre

The Adelaide Indoor Sports Centre is Adelaide’s newest indoor sports facility with brand new purpose built courts for cricket, netball and soccer. This new centre compliments the existing Adelaide Indoor Soccer Centre that has undergone major upgrading and renovations. Both centres now have state of the art facilities with newly laid artificial grass surfaces and nets providing fun, safe and professionally organised competitions, sports clinics and court hire for people of all ages.

On Friday 15th August the men's Senior teams took the opportunity to head down and use the facilities for a light hearted training sessions. The boys were split into 3 teams with the whites and the blacks both recording a draw and a loss. However the winners on the night were the bibs who won both of their games.

However winning wasn't the point and highlights of the night included head coach Lawry Sancilio copping a pounding in goal including a savage blow to the private regions. Trainer Michael De Virgilio's terrible performance as referee also drew criticism from the players!

Overall it was a good night and thanks must go to Arthur and George Mitropoulos of the AISC for their support in 2008.

Check out a few pics from the session in the photo gallery...

Special Offer....
2 Free games to any Fulham United members who register a team for either soccer, netball or cricket at the Adelaide Indoor Soccer Centre or Adelaide Indoor Sports Centre.
